At Bloom Hockey Advisory, we are passionate about empowering hockey players to reach their full potential. Founded by a team of dedicated professionals with extensive experience in the sport, our mission is to provide comprehensive advisory and development services tailored specifically for aspiring athletes.
Recognizing the challenges that young players face in navigating the competitive landscape of hockey, we set out to create a supportive environment where talent can flourish. Our founders, who have played at various levels, understand the importance of mentorship and guidance in shaping a successful career. Meet Rick Dorval
CEO/Advisor.
Rick Dorval’s journey in hockey took a poignant turn when he made the heart-wrenching decision to forgo his NCAA scholarship in order to care for his mother during her challenging battle with a serious illness. This selfless choice not only reflected his deep love and commitment to family but ultimately led him to a rewarding coaching career over the past 17 years in Junior A and the OHL. Throughout this time, Rick has achieved numerous remarkable milestones, demonstrating that even in difficult circumstances, passion and dedication can pave the way for success.

Rick has been distinguished with the CCHL Coach of the Year award for both the 2012/2013 and 2022/2023 seasons, as well as the General Manager of the Year award for 2022/2023. He ranks among the top five all-time winningest coaches in the CCHL, having achieved over 400 wins, and he holds the record as the youngest coach to reach this milestone within the league.

With over 20 years in hockey scouting and player development, I’ve built a career identifying talent and guiding players from U18 AAA to the NHL Draft. I’ve worked across junior and university levels, focusing on precise evaluation, team needs, and long-term growth strategies.
I specialize in uncovering overlooked talent and creating development pipelines that benefit both players and organizations. Passionate about the game and driven by process, I’m committed to team success and making a lasting impact on the sport.

Meet Charles Lavigne
Director Of Goaltender Development.
A native of St-Bernardin, Ontario, Charles played Junior hockey with the Hawkesbury Hawks, Kitchener Rangers, Moncton Wildcats, and Quebec Remparts. He then spent five years at the U SPORTS level, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, an MBA, and winning a CIS National Championship with the University of New Brunswick in 2012-13. Charles then suited up for the Syracuse Crunch (AHL) before continuing his career overseas in Europe (Ligue Magnus), where he won a French Championship in the 2014-15 season. Following his playing career, Charles transitioned to coaching with the Rockland Nationals (CCHL), serving as Goalie Coach, Assistant GM, and General Manager. He later spent two seasons as Head Coach of the Hawkesbury Hawks and Ottawa Jr Senators. In addition, Charles has worked with Pro Goaltending for the past fifteen years and is the owner/operator of Core Goaltending.

We recommend that you interview a few to find a good fit. This relationship has to be a trusted one where both parties feel they are a good fit for each other. Contact us via the contact form to arrange a meeting with our advisors allowing us to gain insights into your goals and objectives.

How can an advisor help my player advance their career?
A large part of our role is to assist with facilitating placements with teams. This involves extensive time spent at rinks, on calls, nurturing our connections and advocating for players. Additionally, our team has years of experience coaching players allowing us to offer mentorship and coaching, personalized video lessons, regular calls to assess their progress, guidance on areas of improvement, and help building long-term plans for their development.
